Rules
The goal of our Lazyman Triathalon is to complete a triathalon over a six week timeframe.
Distances are as follows:
Regular:
- run/walk/elliptical/stairs 26.2 miles
- bike 112 miles
- swim 2.5 miles
Double run option: run (etc) 52.4 miles, bike 112 miles
Double swim option: swim 5 miles, run etc 26.2 miles
An hour long spinning class equals 15 miles. An hour and a half yoga class equals 5 miles run. An hour aerobics class equals 5 miles run. The double run option works out to about 9 miles of running per week and a bit less than 20 miles of biking per week.
Whoever FINISHES the distances during the length of the Lazyman (the current competition starts on June 22, 2009 and ends on August 2, 2009) gets treated to dinner by those who DIDN'T complete the distances. It's not a competition as to who finishes first, but a motivation to do the weekly mileage and cross-training we should be doing anyway, especially during the winter months. ...and an excuse to enjoy each other's company in non-sweaty clothing and makeup.
You can always add mileage to your goal throughout the event, but you cannot lower your mileage goal from your original commitment. (However, you will be exempt from paying for the meal if you sustain a qualifying injury that prevents you from completing the Lazyman.)
Participants will track their mileages in each category on the website.
Ready to join us? Sign up for the current or next Lazyman!! You don't have to be in Chicago to participate, though we only organize the LazyWinner Dinner for Chicago! There is a $5 fee per participant per Lazyman event to help offset awards medals and website costs.
See the special rules for the Holiday Lazyman 2008
The idea for this competition came from the McGaw YMCA in Evanston (Illinois).
